I've produced two new commissions over the last week .. a brown and a lilac theme. If there's one thing I'm learning it's that you have to be open to other people's taste to sell. I enjoy putting the colour schemes together regardless of what they are! I am looking forward to getting stuck into some new crafts this weekend, I think I would turn into a butterfly if I wasn't! I've got a fabric letter wall hanging to get stuck into for somebody at work, along with a butterfly canvas of course! Going to try get stuck into my first tea cosy too. FINGERS CROSSED the new website will be ready to go soon!

I found this ..
.. in my parent's bedroom ... somebody had stolen my stock! But to be fair I think it has gone to a good home. It looks good where it is and goes well with the 'shabby chic' look my Mum is going for!

Stitching Time ..
Today I have dusted off my Nan's Singer sewing machine which she so kindly gave me a couple of years ago. It is now time for me to put away my cheap £100 Argos machine which I use for the odd taking up of clothes etc and get myself properly set up with this beauty. If I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it properly!
January Blues
I'm off work today with the headache to trample on all headaches but inbetween napping and lying with an ice block stuck to my head, I have been thinking and planning and so here is my blog to summarise.
I'm trying to beat the January blues by planning my craft buisness. So far so good. Plans are coming together nicely. My brand name has been decided on, and website is under construction, EXCITING! I just need to sort out everything else in my life so that I have an adequate amount of time to craft. I have many product ideas divided into three main categories which are the centre of the brand. All will be revealed soon!
January blues have hit me pretty bad this year. It's always rubbish at the end of a holiday because it means that it's time for my boyfriend to go back to Uni. I will see him again at the weekend and every weekend after that but it's horrible getting back to lonely weekdays and saying goodbye doesn't get any easier after 3 years!
It also doesn't help that I don't like my job and hate spending 40 hours of my week with people I don't like doing things I don't like. Kind of defeats the object of life.
But ANYWAY it's a new year and hopefully all of this will change soon. I'm looking forward to a bright 2012 with lots going on and plenty of welcome changes!

The two records that have been helping to pick myself up this January are from two different styles of music but two styles that I love equally and from two artists that are going to have a great 2012 ..

Three balls of wool later ...
I decided I wanted to start knitting back in October, and yes, I only finished the scarf I decided to knit a couple of weeks ago!! My god it is SO time consuming! I loved it and I will definitely continue to knit but I just wish I had more TIME. It wouldn't have taken me so long had I not had to stop to do the pieces for my craft fair's and what with Christmas preperation and being tired after work every night and what not blah blah. I also decided that I was going to knit with an extremely tight tension which added to the length of time it took to make. ANYWAY kniting is so easy and anyone could do it. I made this scarf for my fella. He wanted a scarf he could wear with anything and for years, so I chose a basic cream 'Aran' wool and chose to just use the knit stitch to give it a more masculine look. I did make it a bit too wide but I know for next time, and if we hit the 'big freeze' this year then he will be sorted!

First Commission
My first completed commissioned piece is this lime green butterfly heart. A woman I met at the weekend had her heart set on an all lime green heart where as I suggested maybe she had a few white butterflies to break it up.
I actually think she was right to have it in all lime green. I just hope it looks ok in her bedroom!

Christmas Craft Fair's
I attended a couple of craft fair's last week, I wasn't sure that I would sell anything as they were targeting the Christmas shoppers but I managed to sell a painting (one which I found hard to part with!) and a butterfly canvas! I also took three orders for commissioned butterfly canvases, so I was very pleased!!
